2020 Movistar Medio Maraton de Madrid and Carrera ProFuturo have been cancelled due to Coronavirus and safety concerns

The 2020 edition of the Movistar Medio Maraton de Madrid and Carrera ProFuturo have been cancelled due Coronavirus-related health and safety concerns for the athletes, citizens of Madrid, spectators, volunteers and staff. After being postponed from March 29th to October 4th, finally the organization made the decision due to the current situation worldwide and the uncertainty about a massive event with almost 20,000 participants.

Safety is the main concern and the organization looks forward to hosting the 20th running of the Movistar Medio Maraton de Madrid of 2021, that will take place on April 11st.

The Carrera ProFuturo (5k), the Expo and the other side events have also been canceled.

All the registrations will be upgraded / transferred to 2021 edition (no extra cost or fee) and athletes can also request a refund of the registration (except the fee from the online registration platform).

The Movistar Medio Maraton VR (virtual race) will be unveiled within the next days, to allow all the athletes to join the largest virtual half marathon in Spain in October.

Those athletes who transfer the registration to the 2021 edition will get at home the 2020’s official Joma technical t-shirt of the event and the direct registration for the Movistar Medio Maraton VR.

Registered athletes will be contacted by email regarding the cancellation resolution details, including the options to claim the refund or defer the entry to 2021 edition.

We would like to send to the running community and to all citizens of Madrid our love, best wishes and encouragement for these difficult times.
