Garmin repeats as the official watch of the Movistar Madrid Medio Maraton
On 7 April, one of the most popular sporting events in our country returns: the Movistar Madrid Medio Maraton, which has once again chosen Garmin as its Official Watch. With the background of having had an excellent participation in the last edition, for this year it is expected to reach an all-time participants record, close to 20,000 athletes. In addition, the race maintains the "Road Race Label" of the international federation World Athletics, which includes it in its official calendar of the best world road races.
With Garmin as the start and finish clock, both the Movistar Madrid Medio Maraton (21,097 metres) and the ProFuturo charity race (5km) will be run along some of the best locations and well-known spots in the streets of Madrid. Participants will enjoy a real tour of the most emblematic areas: Nuevos Ministerios, Plaza de Castilla, Serrano, Retiro Park and Atocha Station, with the finish line in the Recoletos neighbourhood, There will be 4 energy stations on the course.
Garmin's Forerunner 165 series accompanying all participants
Garmin has been committed for years to supporting all runners by developing a line of watches specially created for this discipline. That is why it will have its own space at the Expo del Corredor from 4 to 6 April. This is the perfect opportunity for runners and participants to pick up their race bibs and receive technical advice from members of the Garmin team before the race.
Garmin's Forerunner® range of smartwatches for running offers advanced performance features and will be a great help for training ahead of the Movistar Madrid Medio Maraton. The addition launched two days ago, the Forerunner 165, includes the tools needed to help runners beat their personal best by monitoring pace, distance, wrist-based heart rate, VO2 max and more.
In the lead-up to the race, users can take advantage of several adaptive training plan options: enter race information into the Garmin ConnectTM calendar and receive training plans that adapt after each race to match performance and recovery, or use for free Garmin Coach's 5K, 10K and half marathon plans created by expert coaches.
In addition, the Garmin Coach feature will allow users to send an adaptive training plan to a compatible Garmin watch. With Garmin Coach, they will be able to choose their expert running coach and their running goal (which in this case would be a half marathon). They will then receive guidance with a no-cost training plan that includes selected dynamic exercises that are synced to the watch and adjusted to become harder or easier based on the athlete's performance on the plan.
In addition, athletes can plan their race day strategy using PacePro™ (pace guidance adjusted for selected courses or distances) and run with confidence knowing that SatIQ™ technology and multi-band GPS will provide superior positioning accuracy in even the most challenging environments. In addition, these watches are designed to track overall wellness 24/7 with Pulse Ox wrist-based sensor, Body Battery™ energy monitoring, advanced sleep monitoring and sleep scoring, stress tracking, and menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking, among other features.
Garmin will be present at the event as the official watch with the most advanced running technology, also offering support to runners at all times.
Designed indoors for life outdoors, Garmin products have revolutionised the lives of runners, cyclists, swimmers and athletes of all levels and abilities. Committed to developing technology that helps people stay active and elevate their performance, Garmin believes that every day is an opportunity to innovate and to surpass yesterday.
