The Movistar Madrid Medio Marathon unveils its brand new course
The Movistar Madrid Medio Marathon unveils a more monumental and more central course to enjoy the most emblematic places in Madrid while the athletes complete the 21,097 metres of the race. In addition, there will be even more entertainment along the route with DJ's, brass bands, batucadas and even the Municipal Police band, and a spectacular stage with live music will be installed to liven up the starting gun and the arrival of the athletes to the final metres.
The start and finish line will be unified in this edition to make it as comfortable as possible for the participants, and will be located in Paseo de Recoletos, next to Plaza de Colón, making it easier for those running the 5km ProFuturo Race to share the entire final part of the same route, which is where there will be the most novelties and improvements. The spectacular start will be at 9:15am, parallel to the Movistar Madrid Medio Marathon and ProFuturo, with more than 26,000 runners.
After passing through Plaza de Colón, the race will run through the most monumental and famous parts of Madrid: Paseo de la Castellana, the Bernabéu, Plaza de Castilla, Puerta de Alcalá, Serrano and the ‘golden mile’, the boulevards, Callao, Gran Vía, Cibeles... And for the first time in recent years it will return to the finish line via Puerta del Sol, Carrera de San Jerónimo, the Congreso de los Diputados, Neptuno, the Bola building and, finally, the Paseo del Prado.
The spectacular Puerta del Sol will provide unique images that the finishers will keep in their memories forever. In this way, the circuit will be more central than the previous ones and will show the most monumental face of Madrid.
